Tradition Meets Technology
This project began as an exploration of wearable art, focusing on a dress that combines draping techniques, fabrication technologies, and traditional craftsmanship. The goal was to merge modern technology with artistic expression and explore how laser cutting and 3D printing can be applied to fashion design. The final garment features laser-cut pattern pieces and 3D-printed tulle detail, resulting in a piece that celebrates both tradition and innovation.
Details
All pattern pieces were precisely cut with a Universal Laser Cutter at Drexel University’s Hybrid Making Lab. The 3D-printed diamond detail was designed in Rhinoceros software and printed using a Makerbot Replicator.
This project exemplifies the integration of traditional fashion design with modern fabrication techniques.
